Winter Training in Cuba
Join us in Cuba for cycling vacation getaway. Escape the winter, get fit, ride and learn from Steve. Cycle in a destination where cars are fewer and the bike is a way of life.
Train and Relax at the Same Time!
The Steve Bauer Cuba Winter Training will not only let you get an early start on the season, but also a chance for you and your traveling companions to enjoy Cuba's unforgettable landscape, sunshine, beaches, culture and music.
Eastern Cuba is our destination, which will combine rolling inland routes, flat coastal terrain and mountains (with climbing). We have chosen two Beach Resorts to rest our head after every day of cycling and fun in the sun.
Superclub Breezes Costa Verda on Playa Pesquero - 4 nights
Club Bucanero near Bucanao Park and Santiago city - 3 nights
Our cycling routes will pass through the rural villages of Guardlavaca, Banes, Rafael Freyre, Tacajo , Fray Benito, St. Lucia while exploring Hoguin provence. Once in the southern region of Santiago, how about testing the legs and climb the Gran Piedra (1,200 m) in the Sierra Maestra mountains, or if mountains are not your challenge, you can roll the challenging coastal terrain to Bucanoa Park, or west of Santiago to Chivirico where the terrain is a lot more forgiving.
In addition to the cycling, we will make time for cultural visits, such as a tour of Parc San Crisobal, Indo Cuban Museum in Banes and a city visit of Santiago. The brilliant music and people of Cuba will be obvious on an optional night out in Santiago city.
This trip would be ideal for a non-cycling travel companion to join and have plenty of fun as well. Non-biker traveling companions will be welcome, provided they are accompanying a "biker".
The principal focus of our Cuba Training Program is of course biking. We want to get some km (miles) in before the cycling season and enjoy it. There will be emphasis on getting fit, cycling technique and personalized training advice. Steve will schedule a one on one seminar for each traveler during the week. Let Steve help you reach your cycling goals for 2005.
Each day rides will be guided and supported by SBBT staff. Steve will personally guide and ride with the groups.
Generally speaking, we will be cycling in the first half of the day before it gets too hot. Then providing optional rides in the afternoon for those who want to cycle, or a chance to sit on the beach, go snorkeling, swim with dolphins (extra charge) or simply relax. |
