For road cycling, France and Italy rise to the top of the list.  In many, many ways these countries are unbeatable.  The variety of regions and landscape, the quality and sheer variety of low-traffic roads, and of course the diversity of food, people, and culture, make these two countries unbeatable for travel.

In France the regions of Burgundy, Provence, the Dordogne, the Loire Valley, the Alps, and the Pyrenees all have exceptional biking, fantastic hotels and excellent cuisine.

In Italy the areas that are simply amazing to visit include Tuscany, Umbria, Puglia, Sicily, Parma, and the Veneto. The scenic bicycle routes in these provinces is parallelled by their culinary and cultural riches.  

In both the North and South of Spain there are some remarkable regions that lend themselves to discovery by bike.  Not only do the names themselves sound magical – Catalunya, Andalusia, the Pyrenees, Euskadi, the Pilgrimage Route to Compostela  --they are magical.  If you’ve ever considered visiting Spain on a bike, give us a call.  We have already operated custom trips to the Euskal Bizikleta in the Basque lands and to the World Cycling Championships in Madrid.  

While Switzerland conjures up ideas of snow-capped peaks and the Matterhorn, along with great climbing opportunities, Switzerland surprisingly has also some flatter areas especially nearby many of the beautiful lakes that are famous.  One of Steve’s favorite stages races during his professional racing career was the Tour of Switzerland.  Switzerland would be an ideal choice for a custom trip. We cannot wait to pass through this spectacular country again.

Morocco is one of the most visually stunning countries in the world. From mountains to desert to seashore to the hubbub of the Marrakech markets, Morocco offers safe biking, fascinating cultural experience, grand hotels, and health Mediterranean cuisine.  It might be a little different than Tour de France, but we would love to build a trip for you.
